How to Compare Floor Scrubber Build Quality
Build quality is judged with your hands, not from a brochure. Use this checklist during a demonstration or site inspection, and apply it identically to every machine you assess.
Inspection checklist
- Deck: how it is mounted, protected and lifted
- Bumpers and castors: replaceable, or part of a larger assembly?
- Tanks: smooth internal surfaces, accessible debris tray, secure lids
- Squeegee: blade material, adjustment method, tool-free changes
- Hoses and fittings: routing, protection, ease of clearing blockages
- Wiring: loom protection, connector quality, labelling
- Panels: how many fasteners stand between a technician and a motor
- Controls: clarity of indicators and simplicity of start-up
Ask the same questions of every supplier
- Which parts are consumable, and how are they supplied in Australia?
- What does a scheduled service include?
- What documentation comes with the machine?
- How is warranty work handled?
Judge value, not price alone
Two machines at different prices can carry very different ownership costs. Record what you observe, then read the total cost of ownership guide before deciding.
