Preventative Maintenance for Commercial Cleaning Equipment
Preventative maintenance replaces unplanned failures with scheduled work. For multi-site operations it is also the only practical way to keep a fleet available.
Build the program around hours, not dates
A machine used across two shifts needs attention far sooner than one used weekly. Where the machine records hours, use them to trigger scheduled work.
Define who does what
- Operators: daily routine at the end of each shift
- Supervisors: weekly checks and consumable replacement
- Technicians: periodic inspection and scheduled service
Keep records that survive staff turnover
Machine identification, service dates, consumables fitted and faults found should live in a shared record rather than in one person's memory.
Review annually
Look at recorded faults and consumable usage each year. Patterns show where training, spares holding or machine selection should change.
