When Should Floor Scrubber Squeegee Blades Be Replaced?
Squeegee blades are the cheapest component on the machine and the one with the biggest effect on the finished floor. Worn blades leave water behind, which creates slip risk and undoes the cleaning.
Signs a blade needs attention
- Streaks or water trails left behind the machine
- Poor pickup on turns or at one end of the squeegee
- A visible rounded, glazed or flattened wiping edge
- Nicks or tears from debris on the floor
Rotate before you replace
Many blades have more than one usable edge. Rotating them at the first sign of rounding extends their life before replacement is needed.
Protect the blades you have
Sweep or pre-clean floors with sharp debris, lift the squeegee when reversing over obstructions, and rinse blades at the end of every shift.
